ICM FIT TEST

ICM FIT TEST

ICM would like to be at the forefront of future requirements. Thus, we have developed a concept where we fit test our customers so that they are sure that the respirators they use provides them with adequate protection.

All masks are allocated on a protective factor after a laboratory test, which is performed in accordance with guidelines from an EN standard. However, this factor is calculated and may in practice not be achieved, as the face shape, movement, beard, etc. affect the density.

THE PORTA COUNT MACHINE - WHAT DOES IT DO?

We have invested in a Porta Count machine - one of only 2 approved machines for the purpose. It measures the number of particles in the environment and keeps it up to the number of particles inside the mask. It shows a completely accurate fit- factor, so that every employee knows which protection they can expect from their respirators.

Our Porta Count machine can also display the current FIT- factor, so we can teach you in proper alignment and show how much leakage that occurs when you cough, laugh or strike the mask against something.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Our consultants test your employees at your workplace. The test is executed on every employee in intervals during the day. Each test takes between 25 and 30 minutes - depending on the outcome of the test. The user must wear his/her respirator and then perform a series of exercises that are designed to provoke a leak.

Fit test is both a test and an instruction seminar in the proper use of PPE. This way, we ensure employee protection and support the employer's duty to instruct his/her employees.

After the test, you receive a certificate that can prove to authorities that the person has been handed proper protective respirator. The test is completely objective and can be implemented on all kind of masks.

CASE DYRUP

Dyrup was on a mission to provide maximum protection for their employees when they work with different products and processes. They contacted ICM in order to test 50 employees. In collaboration with ICM, Dyrup briefed their employees on the project and prepared them for the test. All results were transferred to the individual certificates, so the security officers now have a complete overview of who must and can use the respirators.
